We met over Match.com, where all the cool kids hang out. Our first date, in September 2022, was an almost three-hour coffee at our now "go to" coffee shop in Riverside, CT, where Simon played the Jewish-husband's role (i.e., a non-speaking part). The rest is history. (Simon's version. Dace's is much longer. If she hasn't already told you her version, then feel free to ask her.)

REHEARSAL YES, there will be a rehearsal for the wedding. It will be on the porch of our house immediately before the Rehearsal Dinner at (sister) Jolie's. We will head to her home directly from the rehearsal, so please be dressed for the evening. Meet on the porch at 4:45 pm sharp. Early is okay, but late is not. Thank you! Why are you making us come to such a remote place for the wedding?Besides the fact that the setting is spectacular, Dace's family has been in Cedar Key for over 200 years, and her mother, Sonnie, and sister, Jolie, have lived here for many years. Simon loves Cedar Key because of the weather and small-town charm. What's the weather like in Cedar Key in April?In April, the weather in Cedar Key tends to be 62 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) in the evening, and as high as 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) during the day. In typical Florida style, the weather can be unpredictable. Do I have to worry about hurricanes?While Cedar Key is located in Hurricane Alley, don't worry, the hurricane season is mostly mid-August through October. Can I bring others to the wedding?We regret that we cannot accommodate plus ones, additional family members, children, hitch hikers, or service dogs. We simply do not have the space. Can I use my smartphone in Cedar Key?While there might be no traffic lights, grocery store, hospital, or drug store in Cedar Key, you can definitely access cellular networks (with varying degrees of success), and most places that you stay will have WiFi. Yikes! How far away is civilization?The nearest "big" town is Chiefland, about a 40-minute drive away. There you can find such staples as CVS, Dunkin', McDonald's, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie. The nearest city is Gainesville, about an hour's drive away. Gainesville is home to the very large University of Florida (55,000 students), and is quite cosmopolitan, with plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. (In an "emergency," there is a Dollar General about 10 minutes out of Cedar Key on the left, just after the second Marathon gas station, which has basic groceries and snacks.) How many full-time residents live in Cedar Key?About 800. But it's a favorite vacation and fishing destination, so the population swells on weekends and at different times of the year. What do I need to know about driving golf carts in Cedar Key?You can drive your golf cart on any road in Cedar Key except State Route 24, which is the only way into and out of town. And it's a local custom to wave "hello" at everyone riding or walking in the opposite direction (you don't want to be the obnoxious Yankee). Will I have fun at the wedding?We think that you'll love Cedar Key and the venue, band, food, drinks, photo booth, and fellow guests! However, we're afraid that there are no refunds for dissatisfied guests. What should men wear to the wedding?For those of you men who are looking to amortize the cost of your tuxedo, feel free to wear it! Simon will be doing so. Otherwise, we suggest coat &amp; tie. (Women, please conform to this dress code.) What happens if I don't know the bride or groom?Then you probably shouldn't come. What if I have questions about wedding week? Hopefully this website will provide all the answers but, if not, then contact Dace or Simon (note that during wedding week, Dace will be tied up in beautification, but feel free to pull Simon away from tanning by the pool). And if you see any "holes" in our website, then please let us know. What do Dace and Simon call each other?Simon calls Dace "Pi," because she's small and goes on forever. Dace calls Simon "Honey-can-you..." because her "to do" list is endless and infinitely delegable. Do I have to buy a wedding gift?No! This is a second wedding (so we already have lots of stuff), and we regard your presence as the greatest gift we could ask for. What if I have an urgent question on the actual day of the wedding?On the day, Dace and Simon will be attempting to be guests along for the ride, just like you. To take full advantage of what's on offer, we recommend that you arrive early Thursday and leave later on Sunday afternoon. We'll be there all week, and can't wait to see you! Relevant Florida airportsGainesville (one-hour drive to Cedar Key)Tampa (two-hour drive)Jacksonville (2.5-hour drive)Orlando (2.5-hour drive) NotesAs we suggested in the Q&amp;A, you should try to pick up groceries/snacks on your drive from the airport to Cedar Key if you are going to want them while there. We would suggest shopping in the following places, depending on the airport from which you're driving: Gainesville Airport: There are several convenient Publix stores in Gainesville itself.Jacksonville Airport: Use Gainesville.Orlando Airport: Use Dunnellon.Tampa Airport: Use Crystal River. Be attentive to speed-limit downshifts along the way to avoid enriching the local police, especially near Lawtey/Starke (if coming from Jacksonville), Bronson, Otter Creek, and upon entering Cedar Key. (Don't tell anyone, but we drive at 80 mph in the 60 mph zones.) The last 24 miles on State Route 24 is mostly straight as an arrow, with no visible end point, but we promise that the drive will be worth it. We call it "our driveway." Watch for deer from dusk to dawn. Golf carts are the main way that locals get around town. If you want to rent one, then please contact Dell at Cedar Key Adventures (cedarkeyadventures.com) and ask him for the "Dace &amp; Simon wedding discount."

Travel

Notes During our wedding week, Cedar Key will be hosting its annual Old Florida Celebration of the Arts festival on Saturday and Sunday, so there will be an abnormally large number of visitors. Don't worry, they're not coming to the wedding. If you plan to cook or eat in at your accommodation, or just want to have snacks handy, then, since there is no grocery store in Cedar Key, you'll need to buy groceries in Chiefland (at Walmart) or Gainesville (at Publix); it's best to pick them up on the way in from the airport. In an "emergency," there is a Dollar General about 10 minutes out of Cedar Key on the left, just after the second Marathon gas station, which has basic groceries and snacks.
